The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God* and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
* The word "God" can be interpreted in a number of ways, depending on one's spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is OK to replace the word "God" with whatever word your spiritual beliefs dictate.
The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
The Girl Scout Hand Squeeze:
At many of our meetings, we will do the Girl Scout hand squeeze (also called friendship circle or friendship squeeze). We will stand in a circle holding hands (place your right arm over your neighbor's left hand). The leader will squeeze the hand of the girl on her left, she will squeeze the hand of the girl on her left, and so on, until the squeeze makes its way back to the leader. Sometimes, the girls will make a silent wish during their part of the squeeze. Other times, the girls will share something out loud during their part of the squeeze. This represents the unbroken circle of friendship.
The Girl Scout Sign
Hold the middle 3 fingers up by putting the pinkie and thumb together. This sign stands for the three parts of the Girl Scout Promise. You give this sign when:

you say the Girl Scout Promise

you are welcomed into Girl Scouting at an Investiture Ceremony

You receive a patch or badge

you greet other Girl Scouts
Girl Scout Hand Shake
Shake hands with your left hand while making the Girl Scout sign with your right hand.
